The Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission Meeting will hold its regular meeting in the 100 W. Houston Street, San Antonio, TX 78205, City Tower Large Conference Room 10.W1003 beginning at 9:00 AM. Once convened, the Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission Meeting will take up the following items no sooner than the designated times.

Once a quorum is established, the Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission Meeting shall consider the following:

 
Approval of Minutes
 
1.
Approval of the minutes from the Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission meeting on July 26, 2024.
Briefing and Possible Action on the following items
 
2.
Protest and appeals of questions from the written examination for the position of Fire Engineer administered on August 6, 2024.
3.
Notice and appropriate action regarding the approval of the eligibility list for the position of Fire Engineer created from the Fire Engineer Written Examination administered on August 6, 2024. This eligibility list will remain in existence for one year beginning on the first day of the month following the month the written examination was given or until the list is exhausted. If changes are made to the examination as a result of the Appeals Hearing, this item will be tabled, and an amended eligibility list will be certified at a subsequent Commission Meeting.

Notice and appropriate action regarding the approval of the amended eligibility list for the position of Police Detective Investigator to include Desiree Rodriguez who was on military leave June 29, 2023, when the examination was administered. This eligibility list will be valid for a period of one (1) year after the date on which the original written exam was given or until the list is exhausted.

Review, discussion, and possible action regarding SAPD applicants appeal to beginning positions.

v. An agreed fifteen (15) day suspension for Officer Lorenzo Vela effective August 5, 2024.
w. An agreed ten (10) day suspension for Sergeant Manuel Alaniz effective August 4, 2024.
x. An indefinite suspension for Fire Engineer Kasheen Williams effective August 7, 2024. A release and settlement agreement reduces the suspension to a ninety (90) day suspension.
y. A one (1) day suspension for Fire Engineer Richard Mahan effective August 8, 2024.
z. An agreed forty-five (45) day suspension for Lieutenant Paul J. Mendoza effective August 12, 2024.
aa. An agreed fifteen (15) day suspension for Officer Steven Elderkin effective August 1, 2024.

These matters have not been appealed and are therefore final.

The Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission may at any time during the meeting recess into an executive session to discuss personnel and/or legal issues related to any item on this agenda, pursuant to Section 551.074 (personnel matters) and 551.071 (consultation with attorney).
