Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission Meeting

The Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission Meeting will hold its regular meeting in the City Tower, 100 W. Houston Street, Room 00.W410 Concourse Level, San Antonio, TX 78205 beginning at 9:00 AM. Once convened, the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission Meeting will take up the following items no sooner than the designated times.

Once a quorum is established, the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission Meeting shall consider the following:
 
Approval of Minutes
 
1.
Approval of the minutes from the Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission meeting on February 14, 2024.
Briefing and Possible Action on the following items
 
2.
Protest and appeals of questions from the written examination for the position of Fire Engineer administered on February 12, 2024.
3.
Notice and appropriate action regarding the approval of the eligibility list for the position of Fire Engineer created from examination administered on February 12, 2024. This eligibility list will remain in existence for one year beginning on the first day of the month following the month the written examination was given or until the list is exhausted. If changes are made to the examination as a result of the Appeals Hearing, this item will be tabled, and an amended eligibility list will be certified at a subsequent Commission Meeting.
4.
Protest and appeals of questions from the written examination for the position of District Fire Chief administered on February 19, 2024.
5.
Notice and appropriate action to approve a list of psychiatrists to evaluate two (2) San Antonio Police Department applicants.
6.
Notice of SAPD and SAFD disciplinary suspensions without pay:
a. A one (1) day suspension for Officer Alexandro J. Nagore effective February 20, 2024.
b. A one (1) day suspension for Officer Brandon J. Halbert effective February 9, 2024.
c. A one (1) day suspension for Officer Briana L. Valle effective February 9, 2024.
d. A three (3) day suspension for Firefighter Damien Durbin effective February 22, 2024.
e. An agreed one (1) day suspension for Officer Christopher A. Cardiel effective February 23, 2024.
f. An agreed one (1) day suspension for Officer Javier Perez, Jr. effective February 18, 2024.

These matters have not been appealed and are therefore final.
Public Comments
 
The Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission may at any time during the meeting recess into an executive session to discuss personnel and/or legal issues related to any item on this agenda, pursuant to Section 551.074 (personnel matters) and 551.071 (consultation with attorney).
